Attic Bathroom

Attic bathroom projects must be planned out carefully and the way to make them happen chosen with meticulous care; but when bathrooms are added into attic remodeling jobs, the result is an incredible value added extra for the attic. Having an attic bathroom as part of your beautiful new bonus room area just makes the whole thing much more convenient and relaxing. There is no need to go downstairs or anywhere else if you have to use the restroom or want a glass of water. Full baths are even possible, but the plumbing requirements are much more extensive and the resultant financial cost much higher. But when this remodel space is set aside as a guest suite, it makes all the sense in the world to include at least a sink, toilet, and stand up shower.

Bathroom Ideas for Attics

There are some different options we could opt for if we were to add bathrooms to our plans for finished attics. The most basic of all is a very small closed off room with a toilet and a small sink after we insulate attic spaces. This is very nice and extremely convenient, but if the area is being positioned as a guest bedroom the bathroom really needs to at last include a shower. And then there are further full bath options up to and including a room with a stand up shower and claw foot tub; certainly that design looks great in photos, but it is impractical in a lot of attic bathroom configurations because of the square footage that would be necessary to block off just for the attic bathroom.

No matter what design you end up choosing, just the existence of a bathroom in the attic is a great thing. Guests who spend the night up there will be impressed. Kids playing will not have to be interrupted in their games for nearly as long to take a potty break. The convenience of it will accomplish at least one thing for sure: the addition of an attic bathroom to a project will promote greater use of the finished area because there will be very little need to leave and head back downstairs. If you are trying to create an office to help you work from home with less interruption, make it a point to add a bathroom and you will have one fewer reason to wander off out of the office and away from your work.

Quotes on Attic Bathrooms

Attic bathroom quotes give us some good information on the potential prices we might have to pay in order to get something like this done up there. Plumbing is not exactly the country's most popular DIY home improvement activity, so in many cases this is one part of the remodeling job that will need to be hired out. It is worth it to pay someone else to do this if it means it is going to be perfect. After all, there is no sense in even doing the attic at all if you are not planning on coming out with a great finished product. Likewise, look at the companies that seem most interested in providing a beautiful bathroom in addition to offering a great low price.

Attic bathroom construction and the cost of it more specifically will largely depend on plumbing access. If there is some plumbing handy that can be tapped into, this extra expense might not be all that huge. But if plumbing has to be brought over quite some distance, that cost can go sky high. This consideration may very well determine the feasibility of having an attic bathroom as part of your project. Look at all of the different factors involved and make sound choices.

Decor for the restroom does not have to be fancy if this helps make up some of the money lost in the plumbing prep work. A simple medicine cabinet and a sink, a standard toilet, and possibly a stand up shower are all that most bathrooms in attics will require or be able to accommodate. The floors can be done in linoleum or tile of some sort. There are multiple options for the walls, depending on whether they were drywalled to begin with or built some other way.

In the process of planning attic remodels, many homeowners discuss the idea of doing a bathroom. But relatively few ever do actually follow through, because of a perception that the costs would be too high. Don't just make that assumption if you are getting ready to get going with a project.
