For instance, the new attic access ladder may be moved into a closet in a back room of the house, so that it is less in the way. Many existing openings for the ladder are smack in the middle of the upstairs.

That is convenient when there is little more than storage upstairs. Though, it can be in the way when you are renovating into one or more spaces in the attic. Work with multiple plans to determine the best placement of the ladder for the needs of both you and your family. There can be more than one creative places to put the entry ways. Other Considerations

When you are renovating, you also have the opportunity to change more than just the ladder access. You can change the point where you enter the upstairs, and also switch over to an actual staircase. To save floor space, you may either opt for a spiral staircase, or even a stair case with landings. This can also maintain the privacy of the upstairs floors as well.

If you are going to keep the attic access ladder, you may want to update them, though. There are telescoping and folding varieties. In addition, you may just need a new door for your entry way. You may just want to keep the old attic access ladder after all. Though, it is inconvenient for shorter family members to gain easy entry to the upstairs this way. Consider instead adding steps or a new stair way. It can also be a safer means for the family to enter the new space. It is more inviting if the entry way is comfortable, new, and easy to use as well.

Planning the Rooms

In addition to how you will get into and out of the new space, consider its function. If you will be sitting inside all year at your new home office, consider which way all of the windows and furnishings will face. For some the heat can get to be too much throughout the year. And, in other climates the cold will be the greatest contention.

Plan what kind of window products you will also use to make the most of the space as well. Though, it will be vitally important to determine what kind of products will help make the space as comfortable and inviting as possible.
